Who should own your domain? You.

Your domain name is your address on the internet. Whoever controls the account it's registered in controls your website and email.

How to check

Ask your web person which registrar holds your domain, then confirm you can sign in to that account yourself with your own email address. If you can't sign in, you don't control it.

If someone else controls it

  • Ask them in writing to transfer the domain to an account in your name.
  • Gather proof that it's yours, such as invoices or business records.
  • Contact the registrar's support team if you can't reach them.

How we handle it

Every domain we set up is registered in the client's name, with the client's email, and we work as an invited user. If you leave, nothing needs to be transferred.
